While waiting for the second school bus trip, the girls get out their books and study. They all enjoy showing off their reading skills in Tamil and English.
Education is one of the three main facets of the vision of Miracle Garden (Education, Nutrition, & the Gospel). Students who can graduate with proficiency in English and subject knowledge get the best jobs and thus can end the cycle of poverty that has been in their families for generations. This month John is going to hire a special tutor to come in 5 days per week for 2 one-hour sessions in order to provide tutor support for the kids in English, Math, Science, and Tamil. All children in India (except the very poor) attend some sort of "tuition" that helps them with their school work and more in-depth learning. Now we aim to provide this same benefit to the kids at MG. Such tutoring will cost $250 per month for the teacher's salary and transportation costs. Please keep this program in your prayers so that we can hire a long-term, reliable, excellent tutor for the children.
