Rabbit Therapy

Ps: The picture is a file picture not the event described below.
I knew that these rabbits would be useful one day with the kids.
Tonite after the kids had rehearsed their dance, plays, etc for the easter day special, they had gone back to their dorms. The sister who takes care of the girls came to me all shook up and told me something which even shook me up. The kids had gone out of the campus for sports this evening. One kid, Praveena(5th grader) had found an old newspaper with a Tsunami picture on it. Some corpses laid out on the front page. She had taken it and shown it to 2 other kids, Tamil Alagi and Mekhala, they both started to cry. The sister went and got the newspaper out of there before anyone else could see it.
The sister said they were crying a lot. I was stunned, I started to look to God for a way out of this. Boy this brings home the reality this not your regular orphanage. These kids have gone through carnage. Immediately I got a hold of the rabbits and the little puppy dog and went over and had them all sit in a circle and released the rabbits and the puppy in the midst of the kids. The girls that were crying stopped crying and they began to laugh and just enjoy the animals.
After this I talked about the Lord being there with us and Him having a purpose for our lives. I finished up with a prayer and the whole situation was brought to a level of real peace. Yes it will take time, but every little thing that helps them to smile is a gift of God. Thank God for the puppy and the rabbits. They helped me calm them down so that I could speak with them.
Pray, people, only God's healing touch can bring about a permanent peace. Posted by Hello
